The Jordan Free and Development Zones Group today organised a tree-planting campaign at the Ishtafeena station of Ajloun Cable Car to mark Arbor Day.
The Governor of Ajloun, Nayef Al-Hadayat, who sponsored the celebration, stressed the importance of trees and planting them to expand the green cover, especially at the cable car site, which has become a tourist destination and an attraction for those seeking to enjoy nature and the distinctive features of the governorate.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening efforts to protect the forests and green areas of the governorate, with all it offers in nature, environment, agriculture, tourism and development.
The Chairman of the Board of the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group, Eng. Sakher Al-Ajlouni, said that celebrating Arbor Day comes in support of the national initiative launched by the Ministry of Agriculture to plant 10 million trees across the Kingdom, noting that the Development Zones give special attention to the cable car and to Ajloun's forest wealth, a tourist destination known for its events.
He added that the Development Zones are about to launch the Ajloun National Park project this year, which will connect the castle with the cable car and help raise the number of cable car visitors to one million, in addition to about 700 dunums in the area where 22 different projects will be implemented to extend visitors' stay.
